Course Overview

This course is designed to develop basic skills in music theory, ear training and a practical proficiency at the piano, guitar and voice.  This is also a music history course; we will cover music, composers and social analysis from the Middle Ages to the 21st century.

Course Focus

To become familiar with the practices of basic music theory

To attain a practical proficiency of the keyboard, guitar and voice

To recognize musical styles, composers, practices and techniques from the history of music

To exercise critical thinking skills as part of the general education requirement by developing and experiencing your own musicality
